Charges New Zealand Police Tased Wrong Man

Police in west Auckland are defending their use of a taser gun to control a man after claims they targeted the wrong man.

The taser was used after a fight broke out near the Henderson shops on Thursday.

One witness who recorded the incident on his camera phone has been reported as saying the man was trying to break up a fight.

But another witness says the man hit with the taser had lashed out at police.

Police says the man was warned three times before the taser was used. They say he is facing a range of charges, including assault.
